In the last day of group play today, undefeated Canada took on familiar foe France to determine who will top the group and automatically advance into Friday’s quarterfinals.
Team Canada started the game extremely slow, falling behind a hot handed French team and unable to chip away at the double digit French lead. The second half, however, was the complete opposite as the team showed it’s grit and resilience and clawed back and won the game 71-60.
Kia Nurse, Shay Colley, Natalie Achonwa and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe all made key plays during the come back, chipping away and ultimately taking the lead in the 4th quarter, holding on to the very end.
Miranda scored 7 points in a limited 12 minutes, after finding herself in foul trouble. In the second half, she came up with some big defensive plays; and was a calming influence and leader during a stretch of frenzied play.
