Canada wrapped up Group B action in Rio today against a strong team from Spain.
Coming into the game, both teams were 3-1 and the outcome of the match would determine who would finish 2nd or 3rd in the group.
The game was a back and forth battle throughout the first half; as Canada kept Spain close and refused to let the Spaniards run away. The Canadian offense, however, ran dry in the 3rd quarter as the team struggled to score and ended up falling to Spain 73-60.
Nirra Fields led Canada in scoring with 13 points with Natalie Achonwa contributing 8 points.
Miranda played a tournament-high 20 minutes, but was held scoreless in the game.
With the loss, Canada finishes 3-2 in the preliminary round and in 3rd place in the group.
Canada will now face a familiar foe in France on Tuesday in their quarterfinal matchup. The game is scheduled for 10:15pm local time, 9:15pm eastern time.
