Canada opened up their Olympic campaign this afternoon with a solid 90-68 win over China to open up Group B play in Rio.
From the first whistle to the last; Canada was in control of the game and did not allow their opponent to challenge in the game.
It was a total team effort as every Canadian player scored with Tamara Tatham leading the way with a game-high 20 points and going 4/4 from beyond the arc. Lizanne Murphy and Miah-Marie Langlois scored 12 and 11 points respectively in the balanced attack.
The win also marked Kim Gaucher’s 200th international game for Canada, an all-time record for the national team.
Miranda played 19 minutes today while adding 10 points. She also played some sold defence against the Chinese bigs that included some key blocks.
Next up is an all important matchup with reigning European champions Serbia on Monday. Tip-off is at 2:15pm local time, 1:15pm eastern time.
